La Azul Winery

Uco Valley

La Azul Winery
A family and boutique project that stands out for its warmth, relaxed atmosphere, and iconic rustic structure in Tupungato.

History and Foundation

Unlike the imposing foreign mega-investments in the Uco Valley, La Azul is a project with human dimensions and a deeply family-oriented spirit. The Biffi family has had roots in the area for over 60 years, but it was in 2003 when Alejandro Biffi decided to stop selling his grapes to third parties and began crafting his own wine in a small shed on the estate, giving birth to the winery.

Architectural Details

Its architecture is honest, rustic, and simple. Far from monumental designs, the original winery is a shed with a characteristic blue tin roof that gives the project its name. This structural simplicity allows the true protagonist to be the imposing landscape of the Andes Mountains and the palpable closeness to the vineyards surrounding the outdoor tables.

What to expect on a visit?

La Azul is famous for offering one of the warmest and most relaxed hospitality experiences in Mendoza. Its outdoor restaurant is an undisputed classic: they offer an abundant multi-course menu (usually featuring Creole gastronomy and grilled meats) paired with unlimited wine. It is the ideal place for those looking to eat excellently, relax under the sun, and feel at home.

Their Wines

Production is limited and extremely careful. They craft wines with great fruit expression and friendly tannins, typical of the Tupungato area. Their “La Azul” (young wines), “Reserva” (aged in American and French oak barrels), and highly coveted “Gran Reserva” lines stand out, focusing mainly on Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
