History and Foundation
DiamAndes was born in 2005 as part of the majestic “Clos de los Siete” complex in Vista Flores, Tunuyán. It was founded by the Bonnie family, owners of the renowned Château Malartic-Lagravière (Grand Cru Classé de Graves) and Château Gazin Rocquencourt in Bordeaux, France. Upon discovering the Uco Valley, they decided to create a winery that would apply the philosophy of the French Grand Crus to the Argentine climate and soil.
Architectural Details
The architecture of DiamAndes, the work of the prestigious Bórmida & Yanzón studio, is one of the most photographed in Mendoza. Its design seeks to integrate poetically with nature. The most outstanding element is a monumental stainless steel diamond-shaped sculpture supported by pillars, located in the central courtyard, which plays with the sunlight and frames the snow-capped peaks of the Andes.
What to expect on a visit?
The winery offers a striking visual and sensory tour. Visitors descend into the spectacular underground crypt, a circular space with monumental columns where the barrels and the library of old vintages rest. The experience is completed at its bistro “Diam’s”, where excellent French-Argentine gastronomy is offered in an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.
Their Wines
The winemaking philosophy is purely Bordeaux: extreme care in the vineyard, manual harvesting, and a very delicate use of oak. Its wines stand out for their balance and elegance. The “DiamAndes de Uco” line and its icon wine “DiamAndes de Uco Gran Reserva” are benchmarks, as are its sophisticated white wines, especially the Chardonnay.
Fun Facts
- The name of the winery is a play on words that comes from combining “Diamante” (Diamond, for the Laguna del Diamante, a nearby volcano and nature reserve) and “Andes”.
- The building’s design won international gold in the Architecture and Landscapes category of the “Great Wine Capitals” network.
