History and Foundation
Founded in 2008 by Dr. Madaiah Revana, a renowned Indian-American cardiologist. Dr. Revana already owned successful wineries in Napa Valley (California) and Willamette Valley (Oregon). Fascinated by extreme terroirs, he decided to expand his vision to Argentina, settling in the prestigious and stony area of Los Chacayes, within “The Vines of Mendoza” estate.
Architectural Details
The winery was conceived with a purely functional and boutique approach, prioritizing oenological precision over tourist monumentality. Its facilities are modern and equipped with state-of-the-art technology for microvinification. It is surrounded by a dazzling landscape of vineyards that literally grow on a bed of river stones.
What to expect on a visit?
Corazón del Sol offers one of the most technical and educational tasting experiences in the region. Its tours focus heavily on understanding the concept of terroir and the influence of Los Chacayes stones on the wine. Tastings are guided by highly trained sommeliers and allow you to taste very limited batches that are rarely found in the commercial market.
Their Wines
Under the oenological direction of Cristian Moor and the advice of Santiago Achával, the winery produces world-class reds. Although they make extraordinary Malbecs, their great differentiator was being pioneers in Argentina in planting typical grape varieties from the Rhône Valley (France), achieving acclaimed blends of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre (the famous GSM blend).
Fun Facts
- Dr. Madaiah Revana is the only immigrant to own wineries in Napa, Oregon, and Mendoza that have made it onto Wine Spectator magazine’s prestigious “Top 100” list.
- The soils of his estate are so stony that, during planting, it was necessary to remove tons of rocks, many of which were left exposed as a testament to the extreme effort required for viticulture in that area.
