Alandes Winery

Maipú

Alandes Winery
The refuge of prestigious winemaker Karim Mussi in a century-old winery in Maipú, focused on blends from all along the Andes.

History and Foundation

Alandes is the personal project of renowned winemaker Karim Mussi (famous for his work at Altocedro, in La Consulta). Seeking creative freedom and not wanting to limit himself to a single terroir, Karim founded Alandes with a clear philosophy: to craft wines using grapes from different regions along the Andes Mountains. To establish this project, he restored an abandoned historic winery in the Coquimbito district.

Architectural Details

The winery is a heritage gem dating back to 1904. Karim Mussi decided to preserve the traditional Mendoza architecture of the early 20th century, characterized by high cane and mud roofs, thick adobe walls, and deep underground concrete vats. The overall atmosphere is classic, intimate, and breathes history, functioning as a true oenological refuge in contrast to the modern constructions in other areas.

What to expect on a visit?

The experience at the “Alandes Tasting Room” is purely boutique, exclusive, and designed for true wine lovers seeking depth and learning. Tastings are usually held inside the old winery, often surrounded by barrels and old vats, with highly personalized attention that invites you to stay and chat about oenology unhurriedly.

Their Wines

The name of the winery defines its style: “Alandes” is a play on words meaning “Along the Andes”. Its wines are terroir blends; they combine grapes from the Uco Valley, Luján de Cuyo, and other Argentine wine regions to achieve the maximum expression of each vintage. Highlights include the “Alandes Malbec” and its exquisite red blend “Paradoux”, conceived in the manner of the great Bordeaux wines.
